The Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture hosted a forty-one (41) member delegation comprising management and interns from the Senegal Staff College on a study tour at the Ministry’s Conference Room on Wednesday 21st June 2023.
The team was led by Col. Gueye and the trip, was under the theme “Training of Military Cadres in Africa: the example of Ghana”. The visit provided a forum for the delegation to familiarise themselves with the socio-political and economic institutions in Ghana.
The delegation was met at the Ministry by the Deputy Minister for Tourism, Arts and Culture, Hon. Mark Okraku Mantey who spoke about the fact that on assuming power, the task given to them by His Excellency the President of the Republic of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo was to ensure that Ghana takes over the number one position of tourism in the sub-region from Senegal and thankfully this has been achieved.
He expressed his appreciation to the team for visiting Ghana and encouraged them to take advantage of the numerous activities that the sector organises to experience Ghana in a better way.
Mr Divine Owusu Ansah, a Deputy Director in charge of Arts and Culture at the Ministry took them through a presentation about Ghana, giving them a background from pre-independence to independence when we became a Republic, some cultural and heritage as well as attraction sites, highlighting our rich cultural heritage and ethnic groups and the hospitality of the Ghanaian.
On their part, Col. Gueye expressed his appreciation to the Ministry for hosting them and for the immense information given to them about Ghana and promised to take advantage of the opportunities that have been shared with them.
Present at the meeting were the Chief Director of the Ministry, Mr John Yao Agbeko, the Directors in charge of Human Resources, Research and Information Management and Finance and Administration in the persons Mr Vittus Otto Langmagne, Mrs Mabel Cudjoe and Mr Kofi Benning and other staff of the Ministry.
