- In a bid to collaborate with the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, the Managing Director of National Investment Bank PLC (NIB), Chief Dr. Doliwura Zakaria, met with the Minister, Hon. Abla Dzifa Gomashie, at the Ministry on Thursday, April 3, 2025. The meeting focused on collaborative strategies to support Ghana’s tourism, cultural, and creative sector while reinforcing the role of NIB in national development.
According to Chief Dr Zakaria, the collaboration and partnership will enable NIB to explore opportunities within the tourism, cultural and creative sector. He acknowledged the sector’s role in contributing significantly to Ghana’s economic development and said there will be a need for the Bank to explore opportunities within the sector, while the Ministry also collaborates with NIB by channelling its funds and those of its Agencies through the Bank. He noted that such a partnership will not only strengthen NIB’s financial Base but also enhance its capacity to support the government’s developmental initiatives.
Hon Abla Dzifa Gomashie, in turn, expressed her gratitude to Chief Dr Zakaria and his team for the visit and welcomed the prospect of partnering with NIB. She mentioned that the Ministry was on the verge of securing a grant from two investors and would obtain the necessary approvals to open an account with NIB to manage the funds, thereby fostering a collaborative relationship with the Bank.
There were also discussions of NIB helping to collect revenue at national heritage sites across the country, such as the forts and castles, as a way of streamlining and enhancing the efficiency of revenue collection at these sites.
In line with the Bank’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), Hon Gomashie appealed to the Bank to consider programmes that would benefit women. She highlighted the importance of empowering women and promoting Cultural tourism as avenues for sustainable development.
Concluding, she said the engagement is a step towards a strategic partnership aimed at harnessing the potential of the sector. Through aligning financial support with cultural and creative initiatives, the NIB and the Ministry are ready to contribute significantly to the nation’s economic and social advancement.
