The team of Ghanaians who covered 10,000 kilometres journey by road from Accra to London in 2023, called on the Minister for Tourism, Arts and Culture, Hon. Egyapa Mercer.
The team, which was represented by Kwabena Peprah and Ebenezer Saka Addo-Mensah informed the Hon. Minister of their upcoming 30,000km Accra-Paris-Dubai-Mombasa-Cape Town road trip. The two disclosed that preparations were far advanced towards the road expedition, and plans were to depart Accra and arrive in Paris in time for the opening of the Olympic Games.
While the team shared the regular in-country trips they embark on, they expressed their openness to collaborating with the Ministry to ensure that their private expeditions are utilised as a tool to promote tourism in Ghana. They indicated that they were committed to joining the collective effort towards marketing Ghana worldwide.
More importantly, they expressed their readiness to use their reach to drive public-private partnerships in managing tourist sites in Ghana
Hon. Mercer congratulated them for their Accra-London road expedition and for their readiness to help develop tourism in Ghana. He also expressed the need for more private-sector collaboration within the space as He fully endorsed the upcoming expedition. He also tasked the CEO of the Ghana Tourism Authority (who was present at the meeting) to draw up a plan that would leverage the team’s upcoming expedition to promote Ghanaian tourism.
