Hon. Egyapa Mercer received a delegation from the Ghana Music Rights Organisation (GHAMRO) led by the Board chair, Mr Rex Owusu Marfo (Rex Omar) at the Ministry on 30th April 2024.
The discussions held centred around challenges that GHAMRO is facing in the execution of its mandate. The delegation also highlighted on public education and the need for sensitization of the public, to gain their cooperation in helping to protect the music rights owners in the industry.
I stressed the need for dialogue in addressing the issues that arise in GHAM Ros dealings with both the public and private sectors. I also emphasised that the Ministry was ever ready to support any initiative that would help enhance the arts and culture sector.
GHAMRO also informed the Minister about the progress made towards digitising the systems and procedures it uses for its operations which include royalty collections, distribution, and logging in among others. Furthermore, the delegation shared the plans to launch the digital platform and to seize the occasion to also educate its members and stakeholders on the use of the platform.
Hon. Mercer, said he would help to support the cause in any way practicable and commended the delegation for their services.
