May 25 – Ho, Volta region – Hon. Abla Dzifa Gomashie, Minister of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts and Member of Parliament for Ketu South, has successfully concluded a three-day working tour of the Volta region with a courtesy visit to Mamagã Akua-Dei II, the Paramount Queen of the Asogli State.
The visit was intended to seek the Queen’s blessings and strengthen collaboration between traditional authorities and government initiatives aimed at promoting Ghana’s cultural heritage and driving regional development.
Expressing her appreciation for the warm reception and hospitality extended to her delegation, Hon. Gomashie emphasized the critical role of traditional institutions in preserving and promoting cultural values. She introduced members of her team, including agency heads, and reiterated the Ministry’s commitment to working closely with cultural custodians across the region.
“In the past three days, we have experienced the beauty, generosity, friendship, and warmth of the people of this region,” she stated. “We began our journey at the Hedzranawo Slavery Museum in the Ketu South constituency, paid a courtesy call on the Volta regional Minister, met with all Municipal and District Chief Executives and heads of key agencies, toured Praise Eco Park, also known as Point and Kill, conducted an orientation for newly appointed agency leaders and their deputies, visited the Ho Museum, explored the Tafi Atome Monkey Sanctuary and the Wli Waterfalls, and now conclude our tour with the esteemed blessing of the Paramount Queen.”
Hon. Gomashie described the series of engagements as fruitful, with a renewed commitment from stakeholders to work together in harnessing the region’s cultural and historical assets for sustainable development. She also underscored the importance of documenting history to ensure continuity in policymaking and the preservation of national identity.
Mamagã Akua-Dei II warmly welcomed the Minister and her delegation, on behalf of the Agbogbomè fia Togbe Afede XIV, Paramount Chief of the Asogli Traditional Area, on her own behalf and that of the people of the Volta region, offering her blessings and commending the initiative to actively involve traditional leaders in the country’s development agenda. She encouraged continued collaboration between cultural leaders and government structures to ensure the effective integration of heritage and governance.
