Key themes outlined included integrating culture into national development planning, reforming policy and legal frameworks, promoting indigenous languages and heritage, and creating a dynamic, inclusive space for all creatives. Participants raised concerns about politicization within the sector, the need for financial inclusion, and greater recognition of women’s contributions.
Mr. Divine Kwame Owusu Ansah, Director of Culture and Creative Arts at the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, who represented the sector Minister, Hon. Abla Dzifa Gomashie. reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to restoring and strengthening the sector through collaborative engagement.
As the Committee moves to establish subcommittees and broaden participation, the Chairperson underscored the need for unity: “No single voice can carry the full song of Ghana’s cultural future… it must be a chorus of many.”
The engagement signals a renewed national momentum to place culture and creativity at the heart of Ghana’s identity and development.
