Accra, Ghana – June 4, 2025_The Minister for Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, Hon. Abla Dzifa Gomashie, today met with the Ghana New Zealand Chamber of Commerce delegation to foster cooperation in Tourism, Culture, and Creative Arts industry development.
During the meeting, the Minister welcomed the delegation and expressed optimism about potential collaborations, particularly in promoting tourism and cultural exchange between Ghana and New Zealand. She emphasized the importance of a well-informed approach when engaging with government agencies, noting that stakeholders must clearly articulate their value propositions to attract the Ministry’s support.
The discussion also touched on opportunities within the fashion industry and cultural sectors, particularly in areas where traditional beliefs and expressions attract interest from international markets. The Minister noted that while some businesses may not have effectively positioned themselves within the local creative economy, the Ministry remains committed to supporting capacity building and expert-led initiatives that enable market entry and growth.
The Executive Director of the Ghana New Zealand Chamber of Commerce, Isaac Koumessina, stated that their visit was to formally introduce the Chamber to the Ministry and to explore avenues for partnership, especially in strengthening tourism ties and supporting investment between both nations.
“As part of our mission, we’re keen to understand the Ministry’s priorities in tourism and cultural promotion and to align our efforts in supporting Ghana’s economic and creative growth,” he explained.
The meeting concluded with a mutual commitment to explore actionable strategies that will enhance cultural diplomacy, increase trade and tourism flows, and build sustainable relationships between Ghana and New Zealand.
Present at the meeting were the Director of Tourism, Dr. Geoffrey Tamakloe and Mr. Divine Kwame Owusu Ansah, Director for Culture and Creative Arts of the Ministry.
